It rained, and Small Unit (California, USA) saw a worm moving on the patio's wet concrete. Her entire mental model of the world shattered, and she circled it like a lion while meowing very loudly for some time.

Good news from the Black Cat Ranch. Miss Mercy (California, USA) is gaining weight, after increasing her prednisone! On the other hand, she has started waking her human up for food at 3am. She went and stood on her human's shoulder, put her face close to their ear and meowed repeatedly. She’s very little, but, despite her size, she subsequently got mad at Seamonster and started battling with him to force him off the bed. Then everybody jumped off the bed. No respect for the food giver.

News from the Black Cat Ranch: the human was collecting Mercy's (California, USA) food dish from the bedroom, leaving the door open slightly behind them. Eclipse and Tony were hot on their heels, however, instead of just pushing the door open, Tony decided to take an alternative route. He leapt through the gap, failed to get purchase on a bookcase and fell off. Eclipse just opened the door.

A tiny little tuxedo kitten, born prematurely, the only survivor of his litter, has warmed hearts in foster care, nursery, and the fediverse. Little Oliver (California, USA) took longer to grow and spent weeks in the kitten nursery recovering from a persistent URI. Despite it all, he is a bright and silly spirit and brought joy to all. Even better, accompanied by his stuffed seahorse toy, Oliver was adopted on his first full day available!

Tony (California, USA) decided to go for a swim in the water dish and got water all over the kitchen floor. All the cats of the Black Cat Ranch stood around the spreading pool water looking at it in complete shock and despair. They were all upset that their paws got wet, except Tony, who was wet on all four legs.

Mighty Tony (California, USA) has shown his divine power and thrown down one the gods of old. Aphrodite/Venus is no more.

The cat food was delivered, and Genie (California, USA) is so happy about it that she immediately climbed into the box and is sitting on the cans.

Maggie (California, USA) has formally announced that it's time for treats. She made the announcement by staring intently at her owner for some time, then meowing repeatedly when he didn't get the hint. Treats will now be distributed.
Note: speculative image, as Cat News does not know Maggie's coat colours.

Genie's (California, USA) human finally came home after being out for literally hours. She came running up, tail raised high and fluffy, to happily meow a greeting as they returned. She is a fantastic greeter.

Cat News believes in supporting cats who are making important cultural contributions, so we are happy to report that Taters (California, USA) has been nominated for a Webby Award for his contributions at NASA. Cats are important internet ambassadors and it is nice to see them recognised.
